Hindu Endowments Board

The Hindu Endowment Board (HEB) is a statutory board that was set up in 1986 to administer endowments in land, building or money provided for the support of any Hindu Temple or any other related purposes. The endowments administered by them are Sri Mariamman Temple, Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple, Sri Sivan Temple and Sri Vairavimada Kaliamman Temple. The representation of the Tamils in the Hindu community can be seen by the roles they play in the HEB. The current board Chairman is B. Jayachandran.

The HEB is also running a half-way house for rehabilitation of drug addicts known as HEB-Ashram, headed by Dr Ganapathy. The two major religious events, the Thaipusam and Fire Walking ceremonies also come under HEB’s responsibility. The Board also supervises the accounts of all Hindu endowments in Singapore, including those not administered by the Board.
